It appears that soon you will be able to travel through trains without even having a ticket. The only thing you will need to carry is your Aadhaar card.
According to sources, soon your Aadhaar card will be your ticket as the government is planning to link each other. This will also help the government to tackle the menace of touts and black marketing in bookings of train tickets.
In coming days, producing Aadhaar card number will become mandatory for booking of railway tickets. However, the project is an initial phase at the moment.
The pilot project for making the UID mandatory will be launched in two phase. In the first phase, it will be applied on tickets booked under quota – like a senior citizen, freedom fighter, physically handicapped quota, etc.
In the second, furnishing Aadhaar number will become mandatory for all kinds of ticket bookings, whether reserved or unreserved
Offline tickets carry just the age and the sex of the passenger which lets people book tickets in someone else's name and still travel by furbishing their identity details. The move will check this fraudulent travel.
Once implemented, you will have to give a photocopy of your Aadhaar card and soon a column for Aadhaar number will be introduced in ticket forms. The Aadhaar number filled by passenger will be printed on the chart.
In the train, passengers will have to produce their Aadhaar card. TT will feed this number on his mobile device and every detail about passenger will be in front of him.
