THE MAHARASHTRA Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Thursday arrested a suspected Bangladeshi national who had been allegedly staying illegally in India for the last ten years.
Mohammad Masood alias Mohammad Ali Sardar alias Raj was arrested from Wadala. According to sources, Sardar had been staying in Mumbai since January this year. He was working as a labourer at a prominent under-construction site in Wadala. ATS sleuths have recovered fake documents such as passport, Aadhaar card and passbook from Sardar.
“While he came to Mumbai only in January this year, he has stayed in Delhi, Bangalore, Shirdi and Nandurbar in the past. He managed to get a fake Aadhaar card made in the name of ‘Raj’ from Shirdi last year,” said a senior official who did not wish to be named.
Sources said Sardar had been in touch with people from Oman, UAE and Bangladesh. ATS sleuths are now probing if Sardar was into any anti-Indian activities. “While we haven’t found any terror links so far, we are still probing him on the various foreign nationals he has been in touch with and the purpose behind it,” the official told The Indian Express.
