JAIPUR: More than 100 undelivered Aadhaar cards and several other letters were found scattered in a forest area in Alwar's Thanagazi area on Saturday morning. The police said that these cards were sent to post but were undelivered.
Thanagazi station house officer Amit Kumar informed TOI that villagers living near the Gadbasi forest area had called up police to inform that two bags of documents have been found abandoned in the area. "When we arrived, we found that several wedding cards, letters, and invitation cards along with Adhaar cards were lying in open," Kumar informed TOI.
He said that these were sent from government post but were not delivered to their destinations. "The Aadhaar cards were posted to residences of Sanganer locality in Jaipur. We have recovered around hundred Aadhaar cards, letters of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), family invitations and private letters," Kumar said, adding that most of the letters are of last year.
"Not just official letters, but even letters informing about deaths of near ones were also undelivered," police said. The police have taken all the documents and a probe has been launched in the case.
"Initial probe suggests all documents were not delivered by the postal department for the last few years and somebody dumped them here," said Kumar.
