BENGALURU: Though the opposition political parties in New Delhi have slammed the Narendra Modi government's move to link Aadhaar with bank accounts and various welfare schemes, state chief minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday tabled a bill which will make the unique ID number mandatory for availing government services, welfare schemes and subsidies in Karnataka.
According to the Karnataka Aadhaar Bill 2018, the government has decided to make Aadhaar mandatory for identifying targeted beneficiaries for distributing subsidies, grants, wages and other benefits. The bill also says that the UID numbers will help in good governance and efficient delivery of subsidies and other services.
